What’s Been Going On

We’ve been staying busy this November! I can’t believe Thanksgiving is this week. It snuck up on me! I can’t wait to have a few days off near the end of the week and just enjoy being around our family members. And decorate for Christmas! I’ve been resisting the urge to bring out all the fun little Christmas decorations…luckily we’ve been too busy to get too tempted. ;)

So, here’s a recap of the past few weeks (in iPhone pictures):

We’ve been riding Paw Paw’s tractor.

IMG_0594

We’ve been pretending to be a pilot with Paw Paw (who got his for real pilot’s license! We’re ready to go on a trip!)

IMG_0596

We’ve been showing off our oh so amazing fashion skills: cookie monster jammie shirt, a [wet] pull up, and mama’s black heels. Good thing he’s cute. He’ll need it one day. ;)

IMG_0616

We’ve been visiting and snuggling (briefly) new baby girls! Love that little munchkin.

IMG_0645IMG_0647

We’ve been practicing our tracing and hand-writing skills…

IMG_0649

….and posing sweetly with our crazy cowlicks.

IMG_0653IMG_0656

We’ve been having fun days with our cousin…filled with Chick-Fil-A and bouncin’ in the bounce house! (while Mama and Aunt Kessy went shopping and the best daddy/uncle in the world babysat.)

  IMG_0657

We’ve been passing out on the couch on Sunday afternoons holding our iPods.

IMG_0662

IMG_0665

We’ve been having cute little Thanksgiving lunches at school. How cute is this little Indian?

 IMG_0671 IMG_0672

We’ve been watching horse races. Brayden LOVED it. And no, I didn’t bet on anything. Although, let me just say, if I had, I would have won every time. Just sayin’.

IMG_0675

And finally, we’ve been eyein’ some Christmas gifts. If this finds its way under the tree on the 25th with my name on it, I wouldn’t complain. ;)

L-O-U, I-S-I, A-N-A Tech Dawgs!

Bear with me the next few days…I have a lot of blog recappin’ to do. ;) I’m trying to be better at this blogging nonsense, because I keep looking back at our life and wishing I had written more stuff down. SO…I’m going back over all the fun activities over the last few weeks.

ANYWAY…this past weekend was Homecoming at our Alma Mater, Louisiana Tech!

LaTech We started the weekend’o’fun by leaving Friday evening and heading up 171 to Shreveport/Bossier to see my dear friend, Stacey!

stacey

This is an old picture. Ahhh, freshman year.

Stacey is ENGAGED now (woot!) and I needed to hang my head in shame because I hadn’t even met her beau. So we drove up and spent Friday night/Saturday morning with them. It was a short and sweet visit (and I didn’t take any pictures…whoops). I’m so excited for all the wedding festivities!

On Saturday morning we drove to the sweet little town of Ruston.

Centennial%20Plaza

That sweet little town holds some of my best memories. I hadn’t been in a year and a half. And Oh My Goodness so much has changed! There’s all sorts of new buildings and fun new places…college students are spoiled now a days, I tell ya. We stopped by the new BCM…it’s amazing. I almost cried. We also caught up with a lot of sweet friends. I was wrangling a three year old plus carrying a ridiculous amount of stuff, so no pictures were taken. Sad day.

After catching up and walking around a bit (and spending too much money in the bookstore…but we needed to stock up – you can’t find Tech gear in the dirty south), we headed to the football game!

IMG_0229

It was Brayden’s first football game (other than a few high school games), and he loved it! We’re slowly making him a football fan. :) It was way hotter than we were expecting, but we made it through.

IMG_0217

Brayden LOVED Champ the Bulldog, Tech’s mascot. We sat on the bottom row through the whole third quarter hoping that Champ would come over, but he never did. Oh well…next time!

IMG_0225

Brayden, Jason, and “Uncle” Paul at the game…B and Uncle Paul really hit it off! :)

IMG_0234

At this point I stopped taking pictures. We headed to dinner, then visited our friends the Murphy’s! Brayden played with Molly and cousin Phillip and had the best time.

The next morning, we headed to our old church, FBC Ruston. It was good to see some familiar faces! We visited with friends that afternoon then headed home. Brayden passed out in the car.

I’m so thankful for sweet college memories and sweet friends that you can pick up with right where you left off. We need to visit more often, for sure!

Birthday Party Re-cap

The day before Brayden’s actual birthday, we had a Mike the Tiger/LSU birthday bash for the little man. He was so excited for his big day and talked about candles and cake all week! What little man wants, little man gets!

Our sweet little birthday boy! He’s getting so big.

Treat bags for the friends. :)

Before the party started, we gave Brayden his birthday present from mommy and daddy…

IMG_0065

His bounce house! Safe to say that he loves it.

IMG_0069 IMG_0076IMG_0090IMG_0100

Mack girl liked it too. :)

And what’s a party without food?! We had a football tailgate, with burgers, hot dogs, chips & dip, purple and gold mac & cheese, and desserts: cookies, cake balls, cookie cake, and the regular cake. Yum!

The set up.

Cookies by Aunt Kessy! :)

Brayden had the best time playing his little heart out. He loved having all his “people” in one place. :)

IMG_0119

Then it was time for what he’d been waiting for for weeks…cake!

IMG_0136 IMG_0152

And then presents, of course.

IMG_0178 IMG_0200 IMG_0206 The loot!

Thank you to everyone who made Brayden’s birthday party so special. We’re so blessed and fortunate to have so many wonderful people who love us and love our Brayden!

Three.

I can’t believe it’s been three years. I know I always say that, but it’s true. Three years has flown by, yet I can’t imagine a world without our little man.

IMG_9959

He lights up our life. He constantly makes us laugh. He’s super sweet and caring, and has the most empathetic heart I’ve ever met.

Words can’t even express how much he means to us. He has changed us so much in the last three years. He has brought us together, grown our family, and taught us lessons we never knew we needed to learn. I thank God everyday for trusting me with his little life.

We’ve had a wonderful weekend celebrating our little love and his three sweet years on this earth. A party recap will come soon!

Happy Birthday, my sweet Brayden man. I hope it was everything you dreamed of and more.

What I'm Loving Wednesday

Top Ten Things I Am Currently Loving (in no particular order):

1. This is my first post to type with my iPad! I've had the iPad for a while, just haven't blogged on it. We'll see what it looks like after I hit "publish."

2. It feels dad gum AMAZING outside. Fall has finally arrived in SWLA. Can I get an amen?!

3. I found a few pairs of pants that fit our skinny boy with bird legs.

4. I got a $3 shirt at Old Navy. Woo!

5. Fall scented candles. Enough said.

6. My BFF is going to have her sweet little bundle of love soon!

7. Jason got the new iPhone. Siri is funny. And a bit of a smart aleck.

8. Brayden has been wearing underwear all day at school. Not so much at home, but we're working on it. He'll get there one day.

9. We just booked a CRUISE for February. Excited doesn't even begin to explain it!

10. We'll be celebrating three wonderful years of a little boy's life this weekend. I can't believe he's three. Just can't believe it.

What are YOU loving this Wednesday?

Friday Night Lights

On Friday, we headed to Westlake to see Zach (my cousin) and the South Beauregard Knights play the Westlake Rams. I haven’t been to many high school games since I graduated (5.5 years ago!), and I really miss it.

Zach is a sophomore this year and he is one of the kickers. He’s in the middle: Number 14. He kicked once during the game and of course I missed it (a freak rain shower had just gone through – with zero percent forcasted, mind you - and my camera was tucked away nice and dry). If you get the American Press, his picture was on the cover! :)

IMG_9847

Brayden had a really good time watching. For five minutes. He also enjoys schmoozing his grandparents, climbing the bleachers, and sneaking M&Ms.

IMG_9844

He especially loved the band. He talked all evening about the drums and the “moosic” from the band. We may have a future band nerd on our hands! Which is ok by me. :) Band members don’t get tackled.

IMG_9848

Brayden and Mackenly put on quite the half-time performance to anyone who would watch. I got most of it on video. It’s YouTube gold. Hopefully I can figure out how to post it soon. Videos are Jason’s expertise. ;)

IMG_9857

South Beau wound up losing, but we still enjoyed cheering them on. We’re looking forward to seeing more of Zach kicking in the future!
