Our First Family Vacation

On Tuesday, we loaded up the Acadia and headed west to Galveston, TX for our first ever just-the-three-of-us vacation. I quickly learned why my parents always had less fun than we did on trips, but I love seeing that little man smile, so it was definitely worth it.

We left around 8:30am, stopped for some yummy goodness at our new Chick-Fil-A, then hit the road! When we got to the ferry, we thought we were just in time, but we missed it and had to wait for the next one. Bummer. Luckily daddy rigged our car with movies.

Two cuties in the backseat watching Curious George!

After about 45 minutes, we finally got on the ferry. Brayden loved it. He loves all things transportation so riding on the “boat” was right up his alley.

Sweet boy still has his unfortunate cowlick.

After getting off the ferry, we headed to Moody Gardens! I don’t have many pictures because I couldn’t figure out the right settings for my camera. Brayden loved it though. We even met up with some friends from my online group and we really enjoyed meeting everyone! Brayden loved exploring the pyramids…especially the seals and the penguins.

Moody Gardens also has a Discovery Pyramid, Rainforest Pyramid, and a paddleboat. And Brayden’s personal favorite…Diego movie in 4D. He was in love.

And this is where my semi-decent photo documentation stops.

That evening, after checking into our hotel, we headed to Rainforest Cafe for supper. Brayden was THAT child while waiting to be seated, but he stopped screaming when we got a table and we all had a great time. Brayden loved all the animals and eating in the “rainforest.”

The next day, we went on a “train” ride around Galveston. The advertisement was for a train, and the train wound up being a pink trailer with seats being pulled by a jeep. Good thing almost three year olds can’t really tell the difference. The ride was a tour of the historical homes on the island, which I actually found to be very interesting. Brayden just liked riding.

All in all, we had a great trip! Can’t wait for more family fun in the future!
