Lately

Life in the Bellon household has been going as usual. We're still patiently waiting for the fall weather to arrive. Even though it's still miserably hot, we've been braving the weather for a few outdoor activities.

Exhibit A: Sidewalk Chalk

Brayden thought it was really neat that he was allowed to "color" on the porch. We practiced drawing circles and learning our colors. Right now Brayden thinks everything is "lellow." He also enjoyed watching the cars drive by on the street.

Exhibit B: Railroad Museum

We took Brayden to the DeQuincy Railroad Museum yesterday. He's been really into trains lately, so we thought he'd enjoy seeing a real train up close and personal. He did enjoy it, but really REALLY wanted to ride it. Unfortunately, that's not possible. He had a good time anyway!

And in other important news...Brayden will be two in less than a month! I can't believe how fast time is flying. Save the date - we'll be celebrating his birthday with a train party on Saturday, October 23rd! :)

Sam Houston Park adventure

So, in order to exercise more, we (along with the Berryhill's) are the proud owners of bicycles. And the babies are the proud owners of a little ride-in cart. It's quite the site, and biking is definitely not as easy as it was when I was 10. Despite that, we decided to take advantage of the under 90 degrees weather this past Saturday and we loaded up and went to Sam Houston Jones state park. We ate a picnic lunch and let the babies run around, then biked around for a little while. We fed some odd looking ducks and even saw a (sad looking) deer. It was quite the adventure!

The babies definitely have the best set up. Drinks while you ride...what could be better?!

August is over? When did that happen?

As noted in the title, we cannot believe that August will be over in four hours. Or what's more shocking...I have not taken a single picture in the month of August. Shame shame! Anyway, the blog posts have been few and far between. We do more or less the same thing every day, and documenting it would put a reader to sleep, I'm sure.
Anyway, the Bellon's are definitely looking forward to fall. Fall is my FAVORITE season for many reasons:
1. It's a heck of a lot cooler than summer!
2. FOOTBALL.
3. Fall decor. Pumpkins, cute little scarecrows, and leaves. Not to mention the pumpkin spice candles.
4. Brayden's birthday!
5. Halloween! I'm not a huge fan of Halloween and the scary aspects of it, but this will be one of the last years I'll be able to put Brayden in a cute little costume. And we live in a trick-or-treat friendly neighborhood.
5. FOOTBALL.
So many fun things to look forward to! Now if only it would cool off a little. :)

The Beach!

This blog post is way overdue, but better late than never, right? At the end of July we took a family vacation to Gulf Shores! Our condo was right on the beach so we enjoyed a little sand, surf, and swimming!

Brayden loved the sand. I would have bet money that he would have hated it, because he normally hates to have dirty hands, but he was all about the diggin' and scoopin'. He also loved the waves and swimming in the pool. He was definitely one big vacation bum!

Blogger is being difficult and the pictures are out of order, but you get the picture. Beach Trip 2010 was a success!

21 Months!

Hello, everyone!
--
I'm 21 months old today. Mommy said we're going to have to stop counting in months soon. It's starting to be a lot of months to count! That means I'm getting big. It makes mommy and daddy teary eyed when you say that.
--
I'm learning so much about our big world. Did you know how many things there are to explore out there?! One of my new favorite things is the lawnmower. I like to ride them over and over again. Daddy hopes I like the lawnmower when I'm a teenager. He says I'll have "responsibilities"...whatever that means.
--
I've discovered how fun it is to run and hide somewhere. Mommy doesn't think this game is very funny, but I think it's hilarious! I like to hide in cabinets and in closets. I laugh hysterically when someone finds me!
--
I think my cousin Mackenly is one of the funniest people EVER. She was the first person to ever make me belly laugh and I still belly laugh at almost everything she does. She likes to hide with me, especially under the sink. We really like to play in the sprinkler together, play with the toy plates and cups, and to play with the farm set. I'm so glad to have a cousin my size! We're getting a new cousin soon. Mommy said that her Aunt Kelly and Uncle David flew very far away to get their little girl from a place called China. They're coming home soon and I'm really excited to meet her! I can show her all of my favorite hiding spots!
--
Food wise, I've discovered that I really like fish sticks. And ketchup. And I still LOVE fruit. It's so yummy! Mommy sneaks vegetables on my plate even though I don't touch them. When will she ever learn?! Silly mommy. Juice makes my tummy hurt sometimes, so I only get some every now and then. I love my milk in the mornings and evenings. I like to stand by the refridgerator and yell "milk!"
--
I still love to look at books. There's so many neat pictures in there! I like to point out the pictures and name them. I really like to point out pictures of animals. I also really like my Mr Potato Head toys. There's so many interesting parts! Speaking of parts, my favorite game is to label all the little parts on my body. I can show you my eyes, eyebrows, nose, mouth, teeth, cheeks, hair, head, ears, neck, arms, belly, belly button, shoulders, elbows, knees, feet, and toes!
--
I've become very interested in that big white bowl in the bathroom. Mommy and Daddy call it a "potty." I'm not quite ready yet, but I like to sit on the potty sometimes. Mommy says that one day I won't have to wear diapers anymore!
--
So, there's my 21 month old life in a nutshell. See you guys soon! :)
Love, Brayden

Mommy's Little Helper

One of Brayden's favorite activities is to....sweep. A mother's dream come true! I don't expect it to last, but it's pretty darn adorable for now. :)
